Salsa Passion

The Salsa Passion team is led by Klaus Petritsch who has trained and taught Salsa since 1996 predominantly in the UK and US. He has only recently (early 2006) arrived in Australia.

Since 2001 he is UKA (United Kingdom Alliance of Professional Teachers of Dancing, Club Dance Division) certified teacher of dance.

Klaus’ dance style, technique and teaching methods have been influenced by several UK and US master teachers, such as Leon Rose, Susana Montero, Joseph Koniak, Eddie Lewis (the “salsa freak”) and ”Super-Mario”.

However, it was only through dancing with a large number of social dancers in the past 10 years while living in Europe, North-, Central- and South-America that he has developed his very universal and comfortable leading dance technique.

His background includes hip hop, break dance, African dance various martial arts and a great portion and skill of Argentine Tango (he is also running his own Argentine Tango school www.funkytango.com).

Because of his ability and passion to play with any music while maintaining control of his dance partner, Klaus may be seen as one of the creative Salsa fusion pioneers.

Gay Barrie

Manager/Lead Instructor

Gay Barrie has been one of Klaus’s Lead Female Salsa Instructors in Australia and maintains the standard set by Klaus. Gay is passionate about teaching and has a background of sports coaching, dancing and teaching all styles of Latin dance.

Apart from her passion for Salsa, Gay has an abundance of energy that she to distributes amongst various forms of dance such as LA and Cuban salsa, Cha Cha, Lambada, Merengue, Bachata, Reggaton, various Indian dances, belly dance and Afro.

Danny Fouladi

Lead Instructor

Danny will get you dancing Salsa no matter how many left feet you have!

His speciality is Cuban Salsa and he loves getting the students to understand the music and where it all came from. He enjoys teaching and thrives on the energy of the dance and the fun it brings.

Danny has trained in different styles of dance, including LA/Cuban Salsa, Jive, Rumba, Cha Cha, Bachata and will get you moving to the music in no time.

Danny Fouladi and Gay Barrie have taught at Strictly Salsa and have a combined background of both Cuban and LA style Salsa. Gay also teaches at Latino Fever. Danny and Gay have performed and lead performance teams for various functions.
